Approximately 1,800 cones of cotton candy were used by Jennifer Rubell to cover the walls and ceiling of her Padded cell, a freestanding room constructed of basic building materials for the PERFOMRMA‘S Red Party. ‘The Padded Cell acts as an escape from the Red Party’s main dinner, an all-American funhouse that is at the same time confining, threatening, claustrophobic. It is an object that addresses the dark side of pleasure, the price of pleasure, the possibility that pleasure is its own punishment.’
Περίπου 1800 καλαμάκια με ‘μαλλί της γριάς’ χρησιμοποίησε η Jennifer Rubell για να καλύψει τους τοίχους και το ταβάνι του Padded cell, ενός δωματίου που κατασκεύασε για το Red Party της PERFORMA. ‘ To Padded cell λειτουργεί ως διέξοδος από το κυρίως δείπνο του πάρτι, ένα Αμερικάνικο δωμάτιο διασκέδασης λούνα παρκ το οποίο όμως είναι συγχρόνως μικρό και κλειστοφοβικό. Είναι ένα αντικείμενο που εξετάζει τη σκοτεινή πλευρά της ευχαρίστησης, το κόστος της καθώς και την πιθανότητα να είναι η ίδια και τιμωρία.’
